How To Make Money On AVN Stars

A while back I wrote this article on why I made the switch from OnlyFans to AVN Stars.
Since then I’ve continued to love being on a platform that centers adult performers rather than ignoring us and promoting celebrities masquerading as sex workers and ripping off fans. Recently there have been a slew of reasons why adult performers are looking to leave OnlyFans and find a more stable platform less likely to freeze your account and steal your money or unexpectedly make changes to how you’re allowed to charge clients or delay payouts to people from specific countries or reduce the length of time you’re allowed to earn on your referrals.
For all these reasons and more I thought it was time to write a more comprehensive guide to using AVN Stars to earn money and I wanted this to be full of good tips that can be useful for people just starting to dip their toe into sex work and veteran sex workers alike. I hope you find this article helpful and if there’s anything you’d like me to expand upon in future articles, please leave a comment letting me know!

DISCLAIMER: This is largely based on the strategy that’s worked for Me but there are infinite ways to make money on AVN Stars. Pick and choose what works for you and what doesn’t. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Find your own path. With that being said, here are what I think are some best practices for AVN Stars and how to get started. Also, nearly everything I say in this article can easily be applied to JustForFans or OnlyFans, I just personally prefer AVN Stars.
If you want to sign up, please consider using my referral link. It does not affect your earnings at all but I will get a 5% kick back for referring you (more on that later).

First you’re of course going to sign up and attach your banking info but you can figure that out on your own (that’s not really what I want to focus on in this article). Next, you need to start uploading. That’s where I’m here to help.
Before you even start advertising (and we’ll get to advertising later) I personally recommend uploading a minimum of roughly 20 photos and 5 short videos (think snapchat videos about 10 seconds in length). People can see the number of photos and videos you have before they subscribe (they just can’t see the videos and photos themselves) so people may decide to subscribe based on how much you have uploaded. That’s why I recommend already having some uploads before you drop your AVN link anywhere.

This is what my AVN Stars profile looks like to someone who isn’t subscribed

I also recommend having the next 2 weeks worth of uploads already scheduled when you launch and trying to maintain a 2 week buffer of pre-scheduled posts so when life gets hectic or you want to focus on advertising, you’ll still have new posts for your audience.

I think how often to post will vary based on how much time you have available. If you’re out of work and trying to make this your full time gig, might as well try to post 7 days a week, if you’re busier and have other jobs, I think a minimum of 3-5 days a week is fine. I recommend 2 posts a day, either a couple photos or a short video under 30 seconds (mine are usually 10-15 seconds). You might also choose to post the occasional full-length video but I wouldn’t recommend doing more than 1 a week because I think it’s best to save full-length videos for clip stores and PTVS. Remember, the same video you sell in a PTV can also be uploaded to clip sites like ModelHub and ManyVids. Speaking of, if you’re looking to expand to clip sites, I have this handy article on uploading to ManyVids and one on maximizing your ManyVids experience.

I think it’s very important to find your niche. I would recommend having one umbrella niche like cosplay, glamour, travel, domination, submission, etc and then having 3-5 sub niches to play off of that. For example if you’re into cosplay maybe you specifically like to cosplay as ditsy characters or strong female leads or brainy characters. If you’re a femdom maybe you specialize in CBT (cock and ball torture), forced intox, and high heel fetish. If you’re a sub maybe you specialize in electroplay, rope bondage, and deepthroating.
It’s great if these sub niches can play off of each other. Don’t be worried about whether or not there’s a market for it, there is. If you make the content and (most importantly) keep putting out new content on a consistent basis YOU WILL FIND YOUR AUDIENCE! It takes time but I promise it works. Be patient. This isn’t a get rich quick scheme no matter what celebrity influencers want you to believe. They already had a huge audience which made it easy for them.
For everyone else this is hard work but it’s also very rewarding. There will be times in the beginning where you put out a new full length video and don’t sell a single copy for months but if you have it up on a clip site like ManyVids or Modelhub you might be surprised when six months later that video that didn’t do well in the beginning suddenly makes a sale, and then another, and then another. Just do the work and be patient.

AVN Stars allows you to post to a story that disappears after 24 hours much like stories on Snapchat, Instagram, and OnlyFans. You can set your story to only be visible to paid subscribers, only visible to your followers, or publicly visible to everyone. I personally like to set mine to be publicly visible to everyone. Public stories are visible at the top of the explore page and can be a great way to get more followers which will hopefully lead to more subscribers.

Any post can be marked as either private for subscribers only or free, which means they’ll pop up in the feeds of people who are following you but not subscribed and also on the explore page. This can be a great way to entice people who aren’t following you into following and people who are following you into subsribing!

Full length videos are one of the best ways to make money. Full length videos are usually 2-10 minutes but depending on the content might be up to 30 minutes or even longer. On AVN you can sell them both as an attachment to PTV (pay-to-view) messages and in the clip store built-in to your AVN Stars profile. Then throw that same video up on other clip stores to maximize profits. I cannot stress enough the importance of diversifying income streams. You never know what’s going to happen to the market next. I’ve been on sites that went belly up and took my money with them so now I try to be on as many sites as I can to keep my profit streams diverse and my earnings high.
These full length videos (sometimes called clips) are generally priced at $1-2/ min but might be more depending on how unique the content is and how labor-intensive it was to create. It’s up to you to judge how much you want to charge, keeping in mind how much your audience might be willing to pay.

Offering custom content is one of the best ways to earn money in the adult industry.

content menu
My personal custom content menu. You don’t want to just copy mine but here’s an idea of how you might choose to price yours

Custom content can be anything but some of the most common ones are erotic stories, custom photo sets, and custom videos. How much to charge is up to you but you generally charge *significantly* more for custom content than pre-made content. It’s also common to resell custom content at your normal content price but offer an exclusivity fee to the original buyer of the content if they don’t want it to be resold. I also charge the exclusivity fee on any content that isn’t going to be resellable, for instance extremely niche and specific fetishes or any video in which the buyer wants me to use their name. Also, if the customer wants you to use any outfits or props you don’t already own, make it clear that they are expected to pay for the additional supplies. When selling custom content please remember to always get the payment before you even begin working on the content. It sucks to pour hard work and energy into a project only to never receive payment. MONEY FIRST ALWAYS!

The reason why people subscribe to these kinds of services rather than just looking up the millions of free nudes and porn videos that can be found online is because they want to feel a personal connection to YOU, so give it to them. Don’t wear yourself out giving all of your time and energy to subscribers but make sure they feel appreciated. It’s so easy to send out mass messages on AVN Stars so do it. Check in with your subscribers. Tell them how your week is going. Spend a little extra time chatting with the subscribers that are tipping and buying content to make sure they know how much you appreciate them.

welcome messages
A peak at my Welcome Messages. Don’t just copy mine but feel free to take some inspiration.

AVN Stars has an amazing feature that allows you to set up automatic welcome messages that will be sent to new followers and subscribers. They can be either free messages or PTVs in which you can attach a photo as a way to make extra money. Just go to Settings> Welcome Messages to set up yours!

Honestly, promotion could very easily be its own article and maybe in the future I might do an article dedicated to the different advertising methods I’ve found successful but here are just a few to get you started.
Social media! Have at least an Instagram and Twitter for advertising. Be careful how you advertise on different social media platforms since apart from Twitter and certain NSFW subReddits they generally don’t allow porn. Having a in your bio instead of a direct link to your adult sites is generally a safe idea especially on Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok.
Be yourself, be playful, interact with your audience. Consider joining things like engagement or SFS (shout for shout) groups. These are groups designed to help you grow our account while you help other content creators grow theirs as well.

On AVN Stars and most adult sites you are considered a private contractor and as such are responsible for paying your own taxes. These sites aren’t taking money out for taxes the way a normal job would so you need to be putting aside 30% of what you make for your taxes. I’m not a tax expert so I’m not really going to get into detail on this subject but just make sure you’re putting money aside so you don’t end up in trouble later.

If you refer a friend to AVN Stars you will get a 5% cut of their earnings FOR LIFE so use that referral link. It doesn’t affect their earnings at all so don’t be afraid to give that link out liberally and if you’re not yet signed up for AVN Stars, please use my referral link! You can find yours under Settings> Referrals
